Brady Johnson
Brady Johnson is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, where his first musical training began as a boy chorister at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. While a chorister there, he started piano studies with St. Luke's choirmaster, George Norman Tucker. As a high school student, Brady attended the Interlochen Arts Academy where he studied piano with Gary Kirkpatrick and Kim Kabala, voice with Kenneth Jewell, and organ with Robert Murphy.
Attending the School of Music at The University of Michigan, he received a Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music in organ performance, studying organ with the renowned concert artist Marilyn Mason, who accepted him from among only a handful of students that she had taken as freshmen. He has also pursued studies at the Royal School of Church Music (UK).
Mr. Johnson has performed recitals in the Midwest, the Northeast, Canada, and in 1999, he made his United Kingdom debut in a recital at Blackburn Cathedral. After serving for several years as music director of Trinity Episcopal Church, he joined the newly-formed Anglican parish of Christ Church as its first Organist & Choirmaster, where he conducts two ensembles already comprising nearly 40 musicians and plays and leads the church’s Sunday service. He has served on the Liturgy and Music Commission of the Diocese of Central Florida and was immediate past Dean of the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
He has two exceptionally lovely daughters, Emma and Lydia.
