Donation Needs

The Academy for the Performing Arts makes a difference in the lives of students who cannot otherwise afford music instruction. Economic barriers to participation are addressed through monetary donations that provide scholarships to qualifying students. With the economy’s recent downturn, scholarships are limited and many talented children and youth cannot afford to pay for lessons unless they receive an award. Many of our scholarship students have gone on to college and pursued their music careers professionally.

Monetary gifts, in any amount, are always welcome. Contributions by check can be submitted by mail or in person, along with a donation form, to:

Corporate gifts - If the Academy receives a gift of support over $500, the contributing company logo will be displayed for one year as a supporter of the Academy on concert programs, website, and for those whose gifts are a minimum of $1,000, inclusion in the Academy's newspaper ads.

Wish List

• Master class clinician: $1,000
• Television and newspaper advertisements: $1,000 per year
• Music books and materials: $50 per semester per needy student

In-Kind Gifts

The Academy also welcomes non-cash gifts. The ''wish list'' for these types of gifts for the 2008/2009 academic year includes:

* Instruments

We're looking for all types of band and orchestra instruments in good working condition, including pianos, guitars, and drum sets. Donations will be presented to students who cannot afford to purchase or rent their own instrument. Also needed is a portable keyboard, such as a Yamaha Clavinova.
